Hawija: A History of War Crimes, Resistance and US Weapons of Mass Destruction

During the occupation U.S. and Iraqi forces have experienced numerous lethal attacks in Hawija from the resistance. As of March 2024, the area was considered one of the most dangerous in all of Iraq with US soldiers and the foreign press corps in Baghdad dubbing Hawija "Anbar of the North". Included in this article are two short videos of US military operations in Hawija.

The government of Iraq, installed under occupation and maintained after the US retreat, has committed a new massacre against peaceful protesters in the town of Hawija. The forces used and the way it was achieved reminds us of the Fallujah massacre at the beginning of the occupation.
